Intermediate-range ballistic missile, most infamous for it's use by Iraq against Saudi Arabia and Israel during the 1991 Persian Gulf War. This (probably mocked-up) missile and launcher were on display at Nellis AFB.

Maybe the missile was a mock up, but the truck at least looks like the real deal.

That, or the missile has been disarmed.

My reason for thinking the whole thing might be a well-produced mock up was due to my uncle's encounter with such a thing at China Lake.

Yeah, he used to work there. One day he and his co-workers came across what looked like an honest to god Scud missile and launcher. Perplexed how we could've gotten ahold of Soviet equipment (this was during the mid 80s, height of the Cold War), they went in for a close look. However, they quickly noticed several small but important deficiencies (no rocket motor, lack of launch hydralics, etc.) Closer investigation also revealed a small plaque on the bumper that said "Scaled Composites, Inc." or something along those lines

Well, I have seen some plastic mockups, but you can tell them apart from the real deal. This one looks like the real thing, at least from what I can tell in the photo.

Still, that would have been a bit of a surprise back then lol.
